Privacy Policy

This privacy policy is a courtesy translation. In case of discrepancies, the German version is legally binding.

2. Data minimisation

This website is designed according to the principle of data minimisation (Art. 5 (1) (c) GDPR). In particular:

No contact, registration or order forms.
We use no analytics or marketing cookies (neither ours nor any third party such as Google Analytics, Matomo or the Facebook pixel). For aggregate visitor counts we instead operate our own cookie-less, fully anonymised reach measurement - see section 3.
There is no newsletter service and no registration area.
No personal data is transferred to third parties.
No social media plugins (like buttons etc.) are embedded.
No external fonts (e.g. Google Fonts) are loaded - all fonts are hosted on our own server.

Technically necessary storage

For convenient use, two technically necessary elements are stored in your browser, which do not leave your device:

Cookie banner choice (localStorage): stores whether you have already seen the cookie notice.
Language selection (cookie eleknik_lang, 1 year): remembers the language choice (DE/EN) you have actively made. This cookie is only set when you use the language switcher. It contains only the value "de" or "en" - no personal data.

Both are considered technically necessary (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TTDSG) and do not require consent.

3. Anonymous reach measurement (self-hosted, cookie-less)

To determine aggregate visitor counts and interaction metrics we operate a simple reach measurement hosted on eleknik.de itself. Only the following is recorded:

Timestamp of the page view
Path requested (e.g. index.php, impressum.php)
Language preference (de / en)
Device category (mobile / desktop) - without detailed analysis of operating system or browser
A 64-bit short hash (pseudonym) derived from IP address, user agent and a daily-rotating 256-bit salt

Additionally, when you click our Amazon order button, the ASIN of the target product is logged. The click is briefly routed via our server (/go.php) and immediately forwarded to amazon.de via an HTTP 302 redirect; no additional information is transmitted to Amazon by this route.

Privacy characteristics

No cookie, no localStorage, no browser fingerprinting - hence no consent required under § 25 (1) TTDSG.
No transfer to third parties (no Google Analytics, Matomo, Plausible, Cloudflare Analytics, etc.).
Neither the IP address nor the user agent nor the referrer are stored, only the derived hash.
Due to the daily-changing salt, mapping a hash back to a specific person is no longer feasible - even for us - after at most 24 hours.
Raw data is automatically deleted after 90 days.
Known search-engine and crawler bots are detected by their user agent and are not counted.

Legal basis and purpose

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to understand website usage, identify technical issues and improve the offering accordingly. The intrusion is minimal due to consistent pseudonymisation, the absence of any third-party components and the short retention period; protected interests of data subjects do not prevail here.

Right to object

You may object to this processing at any time (Art. 21 GDPR). An informal email to info@eleknik.de is sufficient. Since we store neither IP addresses nor user agents, targeted deletion of individual records is technically not possible; upon request we will delete the entire raw data set.

4. Server-Logfiles

Our web host automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files that your browser automatically transmits. These may include:

Date and time of access
IP address (usually in shortened / anonymized form)
Browser type and version
Operating system
Referrer URL (previously visited page)

This data is processed exclusively to ensure trouble-free operation of the website and to defend against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

5. External links (Amazon)

This website contains links to external third-party websites, particularly to amazon.de. We have no control over data processing by these external providers. As soon as you click an Amazon link, you leave our website. Only Amazon's privacy terms apply there:

Note: Clicks on the Amazon order button are briefly routed through our own server (/go.php) and counted there anonymously before forwarding (see section 3). No additional data is transmitted to Amazon during this intermediate step.

6. Customer reviews from Amazon.de

On our homepage we display a selection of verified customer reviews of our DSL cable, originally published on amazon.de. The following information is reproduced:

The review text (unchanged or shortened; omissions are marked with "[...]"),
the star rating, the date and the purchased product variant,
the "Verified Purchase" label as awarded by Amazon,
a link to the original review on the respective Amazon product page.

Handling of names / pseudonyms

The reviewer name publicly shown on Amazon (real name or pseudonym) constitutes personal data within the meaning of Art. 4 (1) GDPR, even though it is publicly visible. We do not reproduce this name, but display reviewers exclusively as anonymised initials (e.g. "S. G." instead of a full name or Amazon handle). A direct identification of a person by us is therefore no longer possible.

Legal bases and purpose

The purpose of this integration is to inform our website visitors about practical experiences with our product. Legal bases are:

Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in transparent product information) - given the consistent anonymisation to initials, the interests of the data subjects do not prevail,
§ 51 UrhG (German quotation right): reproduction to the extent required, with citation and link to the original source,
§ 5b (3) UWG (German Unfair Competition Act): We transparently indicate, alongside the reviews, that authenticity is verified by Amazon and that our selection does not represent the full range of reviews.

No transfer to third parties, no profiling

The reviews displayed are not transferred to third parties and are not used for automated decisions or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR. When you click the "Original on Amazon.de" link you leave our website; Amazon's privacy terms apply from that point on (see section 4).

Objection / removal of a review

If you are the author of one of the reproduced reviews and would like it removed from our website, an informal notice to info@eleknik.de stating the date and the first line of your review is sufficient. We will then remove the quotation without delay.

7. Rights of data subjects

Under the GDPR you have the following rights regarding personal data concerning you:
